SS-6 Switchable Input Stereo DI

$510.00 AUD

Effortless Switching, Exceptional Sound

The SS-6 is a 6-input stereo switcher and DI designed to simplify your studio setup. Born from countless hours in professional and home studios, we developed the SS-6 to solve a common problem: the need for a more efficient way to manage multiple instruments and audio sources, especially in synth-heavy setups.

Say goodbye to tangled cables and complicated signal routing. With the SS-6, you can focus on what truly matters - your music. Keep your synths, drum machines, guitars, and other instruments connected and ready to go. Just turn the dial, and you're set to capture that perfect sound.

          FAQs

Can I hear all of the inputs simultaneously?

No, the SS-6 offers no mixing or summing function. Only the selected input is routed to the DI circuit, as well as the “through” jacks.

What transformers are in the DI circuit?

We use a special custom-wound transformer that we worked closely with a factory to create. Tireless testing and adjustments resulted in a transformer with an incredibly flat frequency response and low distortion. We are very proud of it.

          What are the “through” connectors?

The through connectors are simply outputs which are “tapped” before the DI circuit. Whatever signal is present at the selected input will be reflected exactly at the through connectors. These are handy for running synths out to an amplifier, effects pedals, a tuner or any number of other creative applications without interrupting the main DI signal.

Why not just use a mixer instead?

A DI box and a mixer have quite different applications. The SS-6 is a DI box which means you can record your favorite synths and instruments through your mic preamps. This minimal signal path keeps noise to a minimum and sound quality to a maximum!

Mixers by their very nature have a lot of circuitry that adds up to noise and sometimes unwanted colouration. If you need to mix your synths then use a mixer, but if you just need to record one synth at a time through a great signal chain, and you want to be able to swap instruments really quickly then the SS-6 is your answer!

          What is a DI box?

A DI (Direct Inject) box takes instrument level signals (such as those from drum machines, synths and guitars) and attenuates them so they can properly interface with microphone preamps.

It also converts the unbalanced signal to a balanced one so that long cable runs can be made without picking up extra noise from the environment.

The signal level on the DI outputs seems low?

Yes, that’s what a DI box does. The signal from the input is attenuated so it can correctly interface with microphone preamplifiers.

Is there any noise or popping when switching inputs?

No, the switching function is silent. In some rare cases where a synth or instrument is failing it might create DC on its output and that will result in switch popping, but if all the connected instruments are working correctly the switching will be silent.
